DURHAM, N.C. – Duke forward Zion Williamson is a finalist for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Karl Malone Award, recognizing the top power forward in college basketball.

Williamson is second in the ACC in scoring with 22.0 points per game, and is the nation’s only player averaging 20.0+ points and shooting .650+ from the field. The four-time ACC Freshman of the Week leads the ACC and is second nationally in field goal percentage (.682), and also leads the ACC in steals (2.2). Williamson is the nation’s fourth-leading freshman scorer, and is third in the ACC in rebounding (9.4) and fifth in blocked shots (2.0).

The Spartanburg, S.C., native has set a Duke freshman record for 25-point games (10) and also set the program’s single-game freshman scoring with 35 points against Syracuse. With 48 steals and 44 blocked shots this season, Williamson is looking to become just the third Blue Devil to post 50-50 in a single season, joining National Defensive Players of the Year Shane Battier and Shelden Williams.

This list of finalists for the Karl Malone Award will be narrowed down to five in later March. The winner will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles, Calif., on Friday, April 12th.
