    February 10, 2019

     

    With the Duke Loss

    • Snapped a 26-straight win against Virginia
    • Moved the series record to 38-33 in favor of the Blue Devils over Virginia
    • Broke an 11-game winning streak for Duke in games played in Charlottesville, Va.
    • Is now 18-15 in games played in Charlottesville, Va.
    • Snapped a 13-game winning streak for Coach P against Virginia

     

    Redshirt Junior Haley Gorecki

    • Notched 13 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals
    • Had a streak of four straight double-doubles come to an end

     

    Junior Leaonna Odom

    • Had 13 points and three rebounds

     

    Sophomore Jade Williams

    • Snapped a streak of double-digit scoring in three straight games come to an end
    • Had four points on 2-of-6 shooting

     

    Freshman Miela Goodchild

    • Had four points
    • Was 0-of-3 from three-point land
    • Had scored double-digits in five straight games

     

    Senior Faith Suggs

    • Drained her fourth three-pointer of the season and 20th of her career on a buzzer-beater at the end of the second quarter

     

    Freshman Onome Akinbode-James

    • Had an ACC season-high 10 points to go along with six rebounds

     

    Other Duke Notes

    • The 47 points was the lowest against Virginia since Duke had 43 in Charlottesville, Va., on Jan. 24, 1987
    • It was the first loss to Virginia since Jan. 30, 2000 in Charlottesville
    • Joanne P. McCallie coached her 400th game at Duke
    • Had 21 turnovers
    • The seven first quarter points was the second-lowest in Duke history (hit 3-of-12 field goals and had five turnovers)
    • Hit 72.7 percent from the field (8-of-11) in the second quarter, which is tied for the third-highest in school history.  Outscored UVA, 19-14.
    • Outrebounded Virginia, 33-31
    • Held Virginia to 21.4 percent shooting in the fourth period
    • As a team, hit only 4-of-16 field goals in the fourth quarter (25.0%)
    • Duke will return home Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m., to host Virginia Tech on Valentine’s Day in Cameron Indoor Stadium.  The contest will be aired live on RSN-TV.
