DURHAM, N.C. – After opening up the spring campaign at the UVA Scrimmage, the Duke rowing team heads to Clemson, S.C., to compete in the Carolina Cup Saturday at 11 a.m.
Last season, the Blue Devils earned the top spot with five first-place finishes, claiming the V8, 2V8, 3V8, V4 and 2V4 races. Duke totaled 99 points and defeated North Carolina (81) and Clemson (77).
“We had a fantastic scrimmage against UVA last week and are ready to show our speed over 2,000 meters on Lake Hartwell,” said head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno. “The Carolina Cup is a fun race against two fantastic opponents. We’d very much like to bring the Daughtry Cup home, but most importantly, get comfortable being uncomfortable all the way down the line on the ACC Championship race course.”
The Carolina Cup is one of many stops to Clemson, S.C., for the Blue Devils this season. Duke heads to back there for the two-day Clemson Invitational starting on Friday, April 19 and for the ACC Championships on Friday, May 17 and Saturday May 18.
Duke will return to action Sunday, March 24 at the Cooper Springs in Camden, N.J.
