GREENSBORO, N.C. — Duke University freshman Miela Goodchild was named to the All-ACC Academic Team Friday as announced by the league office.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Goodchild registered a record-breaking rookie campaign for the Blue Devils as she drained a Duke freshman record 73 three-pointers in 30 contests, moving past Rebecca Greenwell’s ledger of 72, which took her 34 games to register. On the season, Goodchild averaged 10.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals.

Her 73 three-pointers is currently the most by any freshman in the ACC, while her 44.5 three-point field goal percentage ranks ninth nationally and is the third-highest by a freshman in the nation.

A native of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, Goodchild also received All-ACC Freshman team accolades prior to kicking off the ACC Tournament this week. She totaled three games with 20 or more points in ACC action, including a career-high 26 points at fifth-ranked Notre Dame. In the contest against the Irish, she hit a Duke freshman record eight three-pointers and matched a Blue Devil overall ledger as well.
