HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Duke women’s golf team turned in an even-par, 288, Saturday in the second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on its way to moving up to second with 18 holes remaining at the 6,160-yard, Par 71 Pete Dye Course at the Long Cover Club in Hilton Head, S.C.

Florida State holds the team leading with a three-under-par, 565, while Duke (573) is eight shots back. Wake Forest (574), South Carolina (580), Furman (583) and LSU (583) round out the top five teams.

Duke featured five birdies over its first four holes and would go on to make the turn at two-under-par as both Jaravee Boonchant and Gina Kim were one-under-par. Kim, who hails from Chapel Hill, N.C., went on to play the back nine at two-under-par as she finished with a three-under, 68. She hit 13 greens, 12 fairways and rolled a career-best 25 putts. Kim enters the final round in third place and three shots behind the leader, Frida Kinhult of Florida State (136).

Boonchant turned in birdies on No. 3 and No. 9 to kick off her round with a one-under, 35, on the front nine. The Bangkok, Thailand, product signed for nine pars on the back nine to finish with a 70.

Still dealing with the flu, junior Ana Belac battled through a four-over, 40, on the front nine and then closed strong with a one-under-par, 34, on the back to finish with a 74. She carded birdies on No. 12 and No. 15 to close the day.

Sophomore Miranda Wang and senior Virginia Elena Carta featured exact same starts with bogies on the first hole and then was able to role in birdies on the 502-yard, par five third hole to get back to even par. The duo stayed at even through the opening nine holes.

Wang, who hails from Beijing, China, closed with three bogeys over her final eight holes to finish with a 74. A native of Udine, Italy, Carta turned in eight pars and a bogey on No. 17 on her way to finishing with a 72. She hit 13 fairways, 15 greens and had 34 putts on the day.

Duke will tee off Sunday in the final round beginning at 9:40 a.m., along with Florida State and Wake Forest. Fans can follow the action via www.GolfStat.com.
