DURHAM, N.C. – With play in the top of the seventh, the first game of the series between the Duke Blue Devils and Pitt Panthers was suspended due to lightning in the Durham area.
The Panthers, who hold a 3-2 lead, will be at the plate when play resumes with one out and a runner on first. Pitt took the lead with a sacrifice fly in the second and added on two more runs in the fifth with a two-run single. Duke cut the lead down to one in the home half of the fifth thanks to Brianna Butler’s first-career homer, a two-run blast to center.
Play will resume at 1 p.m. ET, on Saturday. Game two of the series will take place 30 minutes following the conclusion of the resumed contest.
