No. 4 Duke vs. Clemson

DURHAM, N.C. – Following a 2-0 weekend on the road, the fourth-ranked Duke women’s tennis team is set for the final road match of the regular season Friday, April 5 against Clemson at noon. The Blue Devils enter the weekend 17-2 overall and 9-1 in conference play and the Tigers are 8-11 and 2-7 in ACC matches.
Duke owns a seven-match win streak since suffering its first ACC loss on March 6 to top-ranked North Carolina. Last weekend on the road, the Blue Devils defeated Virginia Tech (5-2) and Notre Dame (4-3).
The Blue Devils dropped one spot to No. 4 in the country after holding the third ranking for six straight weeks. Duke features several players on the singles and doubles list. Freshman Maria Mateas garnered the highest Blue Devil ranking at No. 11, followed by Meible Chi (No. 18) and Kelly Chen (No. 26).
Mateas is 10-6 this season, followed by Chi (11-2) and Chen (14-3). The Blue Devils are led by senior Ellyse Hamlin with a 15-2 overall record.
Kaitlyn McCarthy and Hamlin earned the No. 23 spot on the dubs list with a 10-3 record this season. McCarthy earned another place on the doubles list with Chi as they are No. 34, followed by Hamlin and Chen (No. 59).
The Blue Devils have won seven-straight contests against the Tigers as they lead the series 33-21. In its last meeting in Durham, Duke cruised to a 7-0 victory.
Clemson is led by No. 79 Marie Leduc and No. 121 Fernanda Navarro with 9-7 and 8-7 singles ledgers, respectively. Leduc and Navarro are ranked No. 5 in doubles play with a 12-4 record.
With the completion of the match Friday, the Blue Devils will return to Durham to close out the regular season with a three-match home stint.
