CLEMSON, S.C. – The fourth-ranked Duke women’s tennis team won its eighth-consecutive match Friday afternoon by cruising to a 4-0 victory over Clemson at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, S.C. With the win, the Blue Devils improve to 18-2 overall and 10-1 in ACC play as the Tigers drop to 8-13 and 2-9 in conference action.

For the seventh-straight match and 16th time this season, the doubles point went in favor of the Blue Devils. Freshmen duo No. 81 Maria Mateas and Margaryta Bilokin defeated Alex Angyalosy and Laura Marti (6-3) on court three before No. 34 Meible Chi and Kaitlyn McCarthy upset No. 4 Marie Leduc and Fernanda Navarro on court one (6-4). Chi and McCarthy improve to 4-0 this spring and Mateas and Bilokin are now 6-3 overall.

After dropping her first match since February 24 last weekend at Notre Dame, senior Ellyse Hamlin bounced back with a quick victory on court four over Sydney Riley (6-4, 6-1). Hamlin improves to 16-2 this spring.

Sophomore Hannah Zhao extended Duke’s lead to 3-0 as she defeated Marti (6-4, 6-1) on court six. Zhao elevates to 5-2 this season after dropping her last two road matches.

Rookie Bilokin clinched the match for the Blue Devils as she defeated Angyalosy (6-2, 6-2) on Duke’s fifth court. Bilokin owns a 14-5 ledger this season.

The Blue Devils will return to Durham for their final three matches of the regular season. Duke will first host No. 10 NC State Wednesday, April 10, for a 6 p.m., first serve in Ambler Tennis Stadium.
