No. 4 Duke vs. No. 9 NC State

DURHAM, N.C. – Heading into the final matches of the regular season, the fourth-ranked Duke women’s tennis team is set to host three contests in Ambler Tennis Stadium beginning with ninth-ranked NC State Wednesday, April 10 at 6 p.m.
Duke owns an eight-match win streak since suffering its first ACC loss on March 6 to top-ranked North Carolina. The Blue Devils closed out their regular season road slate last weekend at Clemson as they cruised to a 4-0 victory.
The Blue Devils dropped one spot to No. 4 in the country after holding the third ranking for six straight weeks. Duke features several players on the singles and doubles list. Freshman Maria Mateas garnered the highest Blue Devil ranking at No. 13, followed by Meible Chi (No. 18) and Kelly Chen (No. 32).
Mateas is 10-6 this season, followed by Chi (11-2) and Chen (14-3). The Blue Devils are led by senior Ellyse Hamlin with a 16-2 overall record.
Kaitlyn McCarthy and Hamlin earned the No. 21 spot on the dubs list with a 10-3 record this season. McCarthy earned another place on the doubles list with Chi as they are No. 23, followed by Hamlin and Chen (No. 81).
The Blue Devils have dominated the series with the Wolfpack, owning a 59-1 ledger. In its last meeting, Duke blanked NC State, 5-0, in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C.
The Wolfpack are 21-4 overall and 10-2 in conference play. Last weekend, NC State fell to No. 13 Florida State, 4-3.
NC State is led by No. 8 Anna Rogers (19-4), No. 93 Alana Smith (16-6) and No. 110 Adriana Reami (17-5) in singles and No. 9 Smith and Rogers (17-4) in doubles.
With the completion of Wednesday’s match, the Blue Devils will host Syracuse Friday, April 12 and Boston College Sunday, April 14 for Senior Day.
