CARY, N.C. – Dodging rain over two days of the Stitch Intercollegiate, sophomore Qi wen Wong led five individuals playing for the Duke men’s golf team at the MacGregor Downs Golf Club in Cary, N.C.

The event, which was shortened to 36 holes by inclement weather and course conditions, concluded Saturday morning with Wong following Friday’s three-under 69 with a 74 in the final round to finish tied for 15th at one-under 143. With five playing individually, the Blue Devils did not figure in the team scoring at the event.

Wong’s career-low round on Friday saw the sophomore close with back-to-back birdies to post his three-under 69. His round included six birdies overall, opening with a birdie-two on the par-three 16th and closing with birdie-threes on the 14th and 15th. Wong carded three more birdies on Saturday. His previous career-low round of 71 had come on five previous occasions.

Senior Shrish Dwivedi finished tied for 29th at two-over 146 thanks to rounds of 74 and 72. Sophomore Drew Powell was tied for 72nd at 153 (76-77), with freshman Quinn Reilly posting consecutive rounds of 77 to finish tied for 74th.
