CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The Duke track & field program closed its final weekend of the regular season Saturday at the 125th edition of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., and at the Virginia Grand Prix in Charlottesville, Va.

As a team, the Blue Devils posted one school record, five Duke all-time performances and 17 personal bests.

PENN RELAYS

In the College Women’s 4x400m Championship of America Invitational, the Blue Devil women clocked a fourth-place finish after qualifying for the finals on Thursday. Lauren Hoffman, MacKenzie Kerr, Kelcie Simmons and Brittany Aveni crossed the finish line in a time of 3:37.75 as Aveni clocked in a 52.97 split as the anchor.

Erin Marsh placed fourth in the 100m Hurdle Championship in a time of 13.53, only .02 off her personal-best time.

In the College Men’s 4x800m Championship of America Invitational, Carter Dillon, Charles Cooper, Nick Cox and Matt Wisner placed ninth in a time of 7:37.07. Cooper clocked Duke’s fastest split in 1:50.85 on the second leg.

VIRGINIA GRAND PRIX

In Charlottesville, Va., Duke closed out the final day at the Virginia Grand Prix at Lannigan Field.

Domonique Panton had an outstanding day of competition with a school-record mark and a Duke all-time performance. Panton kicked off the day with a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.87m (42-2.75), which rewrites her own school record. Panton followed up her record-breaking performance with the fifth-fastest time in Duke history, 11.76, in the 100m.

Ben Beatty also had a day in Charlottesville as he claimed second in the shot put competition. Beatty tossed the implement 17.76m (58-3.25), which is tied for fourth on Duke’s all-time list.

Senior Nati Sheppard continued the trend of success in field events as she posted a second-place finish in the invitational section of women’s pole vault. Sheppard cleared 4.23m (13-10.50), the fourth-best height in Duke history.

In the invitational portion of the men’s high jump event, Rivers Ridout took the top spot as he placed first with a clearance of 2.14m, his highest jump of the outdoor season. His performance today should qualify him for the NCAA Regional meet.

On the track, the women’s middle-distance squad swept the top three spots in the 1500m. Liz Lansing claimed first in 4:20.55 followed by Michaela Reinhart (4:25.12) and Sara Platek (4:27.82). Lansing’s time should qualify her for NCAA Regionals as Reneau posted an ACC qualifying time.

Duke will have a week off before opening the ACC Outdoor Championships May 9-11 in Charlottesville, Va.

NOTE:

Aside from the Duke all-time performances, Michael McCullom, Cole Rowan and Marquis Waters registered PRs for the men while Rivka Arbiv, Sarah Armstrong, Simi Gbadegesin, Lansing and Reneau notched PRs for the women
