Senior men's golfer Alex Smalley knows his time with the Blue Devils is coming to a close. Just a few rounds remain between him and the end of what should be a record-breaking career.
No golfer in Duke's storied history has gone as low as Smalley, as the Wake Forest, N.C., is on pace to set the program's career scoring record. A two-time tournament winner and the team's leading golfer in the 2017 ACC Championship season, Smalley is setting a bar that every future Duke men's golfer will strive to achieve. He already holds Duke career records for round in the 60s (37), rounds of par or better (90), top-5 finishes (18), top-10 finishes (25) and top-20 finishes (32).
"When you look at what he's done relative to other Duke golfers, his stamp is going to be on there pretty hard," said head coach Jamie Green. "It's going to fun to watch these other guys behind him see what they can do."
Blue Devil Network takes a deep dive into Smalley's career as the senior gets set to lead the Blue Devils into the program's 24th NCAA Championship appearance this week in Fayetteville, Ark.
