DURHAM, N.C. – As part of the Lions Clubs and Peach Bowl partnership, members of the Duke football program spent time at Lakewood Elementary School on Thursday, taking part in field day activities.
With the Blue Devils appearing in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game against Alabama in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium on August 31, Duke teamed up with Lions Clubs and the Peach Bowl. The two organizations are passionate about engaging youth, providing diabetes education and prevention, volunteering and making healthy lifestyle choices.
As Lions Clubs International (LCI) enters its second century of service, diabetes prevention and control was selected as a primary focus area. "Prevent diabetes and improve the quality of life for those diagnosed" is a vision statement for LCI that aligns with global diabetes targets. It encompasses Type I, Type II and Gestational Diabetes and alludes to the physical, emotional, and socio-economic aspects of the disease.
Season tickets, or tickets for the Alabama clash, may be purchased by calling the Duke Athletic Ticket Office at 919-681-BLUE or online at GoDuke.com/FootballTix.
