DURHAM, N.C. – After another season of success on and off the field, four Duke softball Blue Devils earned selections to the All-ACC Academic Softball Team, announced by the league office Thursday.

All-ACC Second Team selection Peyton St. George headlined the Blue Devils’ honorees with the second selection of her career. Rounding out the list is sophomore Jameson Kavel and freshmen Deja Davis and Kristina Foreman. The four selections best last year’s total of three and places third amongst ACC team behind six from both Florida State and Louisville.

A native of Mechanicsville, Va., St. George turned in a 1.83 ERA in ACC play, which finished fourth in the league. She also capped the conference season top five in four other categories: Opposing batting average (.196, T-2nd), runs allowed (13, T-2nd), earned runs allowed (12, 3rd) and hits allowed (32, 5th). Her 44 strikeouts, which led the Blue Devils in league play, finished tied for ninth. Overall for the year, St. George finished fifth in opposing batting average (.220) and eighth in ERA (2.58).

Kavel was instrumental to the Blue Devils’ success at the plate and in the field, starting in all 56 contests, with 50 of those coming in the outfield. The Duluth, Ga., native was the queen of extra-base hits during the 2019 campaign, tallying a team-high 21. Kavel led the team with 14 doubles and six triples, both single-season program records. The outfielder’s six triples finished second in the ACC and 11th nationally, while her 0.11 triples per game average capped out at third in the league and 23rd in the NCAA.

A freshman from Tampa, Fla., Foreman split time between third base and the designated player spot throughout the season. Foreman finished out her rookie campaign leading the Blue Devils with 32 runs driven in and reeled in USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week and ACC Co-Player of the Week honors after a monster weekend at Georgia Tech in March. The honors were the first by a Blue Devil in program history.

Davis rounds out the list after a standout freshman season where she started all 56 games and led the Blue Devils with a .324 average, 61 hits, 30 runs scored and 24 stolen bases, a program record. The Cerritos, Calif., native also finished the year second the squad with five triples, which placed fifth in the league and 25th in the NCAA.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
