LOS ANGELES, CALIF.—Former Duke All-America Iciss Tillis has signed with the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.  Tillis, at native of Tulsa, Okla., was a 2003 Kodak All-America selection and led the Blue Devils to four straight ACC Championships from 2001-04.

Tillis has played with the Detroit Shock and New York Liberty over the last few years in the WNBA and played her first game with the Sparks on Wednesday night.  She saw action in three minutes in her first action of the season as the Sparks defeated the Houston Comets, 74-71.

It was a stellar night for Blue Devil alumni on Wednesday as all five of Duke’s former players who saw action picked up wins on the evening.

Former Duke All-America Monique Currie scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Washington Mystics to its first victory of the season with an 86-69 win over the Phoenix Mercury.  Alana Beard, a two-time National Player of the Year with the Blue Devils, scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half for the Mystics in the victory.  The Mystics (1-8) acquired Currie in late May from Chicago.

Recent graduate Alison Bales totaled two points, two rebounds and one assist in nine minutes as the Indiana Fever registered a 90-62 win over the Seattle Storm.  Also on the night, fellow rookie Lindsey Harding and the Minnesota Lynx posted a 77-73 overtime win over the Connecticut Sun.  Harding, who was the top pick in the 2007 WNBA Draft, scored 11 points, had five rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes.  It was her impressive defense on WNBA All-Star Lindsey Whalen as she was limited to 4-of-14 field goals and 10 points.
