DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men finished 8-1 and the women 8-4 over the two-day Northwestern Duals Saturday and Sunday at Henry Crown Sports Pavilion.

The performance pushed their season record to 12-5 with the annual Duke Home Meet on the horizon this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8-9, in Card Gym on Duke’s West Campus.

Individual results from day two of the men’s competition are not available, though the Blue Devils defeated No. 10 Stanford (15-12), San Diego (17-10) Cleveland State (23-4) and Detroit Mercy (25-2) as a team. The win over Stanford was the team’s second top-10 victory of the weekend, coming on the heels of a 14-13 win over No. 4 Notre Dame Saturday.

Junior Sarah Collins led the women’s team with a 29-7 record in her first meet of the season. The team captain was near-perfect 17-1 on the second day of competition, highlighting a stellar performance from the epees who also got a 17-1 performance from Isabella Barna and a 16-2 day from Rita Somogyi. Barna and Somogyi both finished the weekend 25-11 as the epees posted an 8-4 record as a squad.

Senior saber Kodia Baye-Cigna was undefeated Sunday, posting a 16-0 record on the way to a 21-13 performance for the weekend. She and fellow sabers Angelica Hubbard and Libby Malcolm combined to lose just 11 points as they won all six bouts Sunday.
