Redshirt sophomores Brandon Gambucci and Immanuel Kerr-Brown joined Adamson in the winners' circle against the Eagles. Gambucci's victory at 133-pounds pushed his record to 17-4 overall and 12-3 in duals, while Kerr-Brown moves to 26-13 overall and 9-6 in duals. Duke finishes the year 9-10 overall.
Lock Haven won three of the four opening bouts to take a 9-3 lead heading into the match at 157. Gambucci was Duke's lone win as the Mansfield, Ohio native just missed a major decision with a 9-2 victory over Cody Wheeler.
After dropping the next two bouts by a combined seven points, Kerr-Brown pulled Duke within three, 9-6, by upending Billy Randt 9-3 at 157 pounds. However, that was as close as the Blue Devils would get. The Eagles won four of the final five matches, including getting a combined 12 points from a pin and a forfeit at 184 and 197, respectively.
Adamson, at 174 pounds, edged Travis Moyer in a thrilling 8-6 decision. The native of Riverton, Utah joins Marcus Cain and Kerr-Brown on the 20-wins list with a 20-14 overall record. He has won 10 of his previous 12 bouts heading into ACC Championships in two weeks.
At heavyweight, junior Brian Self put forth a good effort in a 3-2 overtime loss to No. 29 Henry Turner. The overtime setback was his fifth of the season.
Duke returns to the mats again at ACC Championships, March 9 in College Park, Md.
