DAVIDSON, N.C.-Duke University sophomore Tanner Hough captured bonus points in both of his victories at 141 pounds to lead the Blue Devils wrestling squad to commanding dual wins over SIU Edwardsville and Davidson this afternoon at Belk Arena. The Blue Devils dominated the Cougars, 38-9, and dispatched the Wildcats 38-6 in the tri-meet hosted by Davidson.

The two victories push Duke's win streak to four and its overall record to 6-5 for the year. All 10 Blue Devils registered at least one victory with Hough, Immanuel Kerr-Brown and Marcus Cain all wrestling their ways to two wins. Redshirt senior Peter Terrezza won with a pair of forfeits, while Trey Adamson and Randy Roden also captured one forfeit to go 2-0 for the day.

The day started with Duke making quick work of SIUE (2-14) with a 38-9 triumph. Leading 6-0 after a forfeit at 125 pounds, the Blue Devils quickly made it 16-0 after a major decision from redshirt sophomore Brandon Gambucci and a pin from Hough.

Gambucci dominated Patrick Myers right from the opening whistle and led 10-2 after the first period. The Mansfield, Ohio native added a three-point nearfall to start the second and never looked back en route to his 12th win of the year and just his first major decision. Hough, a winner in three of his past four matches, needed just 1:29 to pin Brandon Brindley to give Duke the 16-0 lead. The fall was Hough's second of the season and pushed his record to 15-12 overall.

Duke continued to cruise, picking up a pin from Cain and a major decision from Kerr-Brown at 149 and 157-pounds, respectively. The fall by Cain marked the fourth time the redshirt freshman has earned bonus points in his previous five bouts, while Kerr-Brown captured his 19th win of the year.

A forfeit at 165 stretched the Duke advantage to 32-0 heading into the final four bouts of the match. Adamson, looking for his third straight win, wasted little time in ending his match as he pinned Jake Residori in 1:53 for his fifth fall of the year.

The Cougars came back and won the final three matches at 184, 197 and 285, but Duke's early dominance was too much to overcome.

Duke, just 10 minutes later, picked up right where it left off. Even at 6-6 after the first two matches, Duke won the final eight matches of the afternoon to bring home its sixth win of the campaign. Hough started things off well with a 9-1 major decision at 141 pounds, while Cain performed well down the stretch of the seven-minute match to earn the 9-6 decision and put Duke in front 13-6.

At 157 pounds, Kerr-Brown was outstanding in a 16-9 decision. Aggressive from the beginning, Kerr-Brown scored early and never looked back to post his 20th win of the season and third dual victory. Roden, wrestling in his first match of the day after a forfeit against SIUE, came out strong and registered the 10-3 decision over Christopher Cirenza to lengthen Duke's lead to 25-6.

After a tough loss to SIUE, Bencomo came back against Davidson and won a thrilling 3-1 decision in the waning seconds of the match. Bencomo and Davidson's Scott Patrick remained tied 1-1 heading into the final 10 seconds of regulation. Looking like it might head into overtime, Bencomo took one final shot and scored a takedown with four ticks left to secure the two-point victory, his ninth of the year.

Junior Brian Self, wrestling up at heavyweight from his normal 197 position, finished the day on a high note for the Blue Devils. The Oklahoma City native wrestled hard throughout the entire seven minutes to beat Eddie Isola 13-2 for the major decision. Self is now 4-4 at heavyweight this season and 10-12 overall.

The Blue Devils get a short rest before making the road trip to Boiling Springs, N.C., to take on Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m. Duke returns home Feb. 9 against Maryland at 1 p.m., in Card Gymnasium.
