WILMINGTON, N.C. – Duke closed the Landfall Tradition on Sunday with a final round 292 as the Blue Devils placed second overall with a 54-hole total of 875 at the 6,204-yard, par 72 Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

Alabama won the team title with a three-day ledger of 867, while Duke carded rounds of 295, 288 and 292 to finish eight strokes back.  The Blue Devils were right with the Tide all weekend except for the end of the first round when Duke saw its three-stroke lead turn into a 10-stroke deficit.

Closing out the top 10 teams were Clemson (897), South Carolina (904), Wake Forest (906), Michigan State (910), Arizona (910), Oklahoma State (913), Virginia (914) and N.C. State (922).  Taking the individual crown was Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow with a three-under-par, 213.

Duke freshman Yu Liu posted a final round of even-par, 72, and finished two strokes off the individual lead as she placed second overall.  The second place finish was a career-best and the native of China now owns three top 10 finishes in three tournaments this fall.  Liu totaled two birdies on the day as she rolled in putts on No. 4 and No. 6, while totaling two bogeys and 14 pars.

Senior Laetitia Beck collected her third top 10 finish of the season as she posted rounds of 73, 74 and 72 to finish with a 54-hole ledger of 219, which was tied for fourth.  A product of Caesarea, Israel, Beck registered three birdies, including one on the final hole to get back to even par.  She hit eight fairways, 14 greens and had 30 putts on Sunday.

Totaling her second consecutive top 10 finish was sophomore Celine Boutier with rounds of 72, 75 and 74 for a three-day score of 221, which was tied ninth.  Boutier, who is from Montrouge, France, sank back-to-back birdies on No. 11 and No. 12 to move to one-under-par for the day.  She closed with a double-bogey on No. 15 and a bogey on the 18th to finish with a 74 on the day.

Playing in her first collegiate tournament, rookie Esther Lee turned in a top 20 finish as she tied for 16th with rounds of 79, 71 and 74 for a 224.  Lee, out of Los Alamitos, Calif., carded 16 pars and two bogeys in the final round.  She hit 11 fairways, 13 greens and had 33 putts on the day.

Freshman Sandy Choi also finished in the top 20 as she tied 19th, after collecting rounds of 76, 74 and 75 for a 54-hole total of 225.  A native of San Diego, Calif., Choi hit 13 greens, 13 fairways and had 35 putts to close the weekend.  All three of her birdies came on the back nine on holes 10, 16 and 18.

Playing as an individual this weekend, senior Alejandra Cangrejo continued to improve each round as she closed with a 76.  Her three-day total of 231 placed tied 41st overall, while she hit 11 fairways, 12 greens and had 32 putts.

Duke will now be off until the spring when the Blue Devils travel to Palos Verdes, Calif., to play in the Northrop Grumman Challenge from Feb. 9-11, 2014.
