FLUSHING, N.Y. – After falling in the first round of the 2013 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship the day before, 27th-ranked Beatrice Capra cruised to a victory on Friday to open the singles consolation portion of the bracket at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

Capra, who is seeded No. 1 in the bracket, took down 29th-ranked Lorraine Guillermo of Pepperdine, 6-0, 6-1.  She will next face Kanika Vaidya of Columbia on Saturday, after Vaidya downed 16th-ranked Sofie Oyen of Florida, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, on Friday.

A product of Ellicott City, Md., Capra got off to a strong start by taking the first set easily, 6-0.  Guillermo won the first game of the second set, but Capra used her speed and ability to go from defense to offense to win six straight games on her way to taking to second set, 6-1.
