CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Several Blue Devil swimmers closed action Saturday at the Cavalier Invite, hosted by Virginia at the Cavaliers' Aquatic and Fitness Center. After setting a number of personal and season best records on day one, Duke saw more personal records fall during Saturday's preliminaries and finals.

Senior Jacob Bieze started off the evening finals session in Charlottesville with a first-place performance in the 100-yard butterfly, touching at 50.20. Bieze also recorded a new personal-best in the event during the morning preliminaries with a 49.78 swim.

Classmate Evan Schwartz completed his sweep of the breaststroke titles Saturday, winning the 200 breaststroke in a personal-best time of 2:01.24. The Duke senior also won the event at the 100-yard distance Friday in another personal-best showing.

In the finals of the men's 100 backstroke, senior Ty Stahl led a trio of Blue Devils with a fifth-place finish at 52.35. Bieze tapped the wall at 52.75 to come in seventh after notching a personal-best time of 52.47 in the morning session, and freshman Ryan Prince took eighth overall with a 52.92 mark. Prince also earned a personal best in the event during the morning session, turning in a time of 52.73.

The finals of the men's 1,650 freestyle saw junior Jonathan Derlath record a season-best time of 16:02.90 in a third-place showing, while freshman Alexa Mendes finished fourth in the mile on the women's side with an 18:21.42 clocking. Mendes also placed sixth in the finals of the 100 backstroke in 1:01.13.

Freshman Delaney Brock posted a personal-best time of 21.67 to come in ninth in the men's 50 freestyle final. In the women's 50 freestyle preliminaries, junior Sarah Soltis also recorded a new personal best with a 27.31 swim.
