AWENDAW, S.C. -- The Duke men's golf team is tied for 12th following two rounds of play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. The Blue Devils were led by junior Turner Southey-Gordon's four-over 76 Monday and now sit at +32 608 after 36 holes of play.
Virginia leads the event with a 578 (+2) with Auburn, South Carolina and College of Charleston each one shot back. Zach Munroe (College of Charleston) and Brandon Robinson-Thompson (SC Aiken) share the individual lead at three-under.
The Bulls Bay Golf Club played much harder Monday, one day after yielding 24 under-par rounds. The second round featured just three under-par rounds and four even-par efforts.
Sophomore Motin Yeung is tied for 30th with a five-over 149. He managed just one birdie in the second round en route to a 77.
Southey-Gordon is tied for 33rd after carding a four-over 76 Monday. He collected 14 pars on the day but was hampered by a triple-bogey on the par 5 13th hole.
Alexander Matlari, a freshman from Germany, posted a 77 in the second round and is tied for 44th with an eight-over 152. After suffering five bogeys on his first six holes he settled in to play even-par golf.
Duke opens final round play Tuesday at 8 am on the back nine at Bulls Bay GC. The Blue Devils will be paired with GRU Augusta and SC Aiken.
