DURHAM, N.C.— Following a walking tour of Florence, Italy Saturday morning, the Duke women’s basketball took the court in the evening for its second of three contests as the Blue Devils tour Italy from Aug. 14-23.
Duke took on a group of Italian All-Stars and cruised to a 119-33 victory at PalaCoverciano Via de Robertis in Florence, Italy. The Blue Devils featured seven players in double-figure scoring on the evening led by redshirt senior Lexie Brown with 22 points, nine assists and six steals. Redshirt senior Rebecca Greenwell added 17 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 35-8 advantage after the first 10 minutes and increased the lead to 65-22 at the half.
After the halftime break, Duke outscored the All-Stars, 36-4, in the third period to lead 91-26.
Duke hit 53.3 percent from the field and drained 11 three-pointers. Brown led the team hitting 4-of-4 on the night. Sophomore Leaonna Odom added 18 points and four rebounds, while freshman Madison Treece added 10 rebounds and seven points. Freshman Mikayla Boykin stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists.
The Italian All-Stars were led by Chiara Consolini with 15 points.
The Blue Devils will pack up in the morning and head to Bologna for lunch and then their final destination of the trip, Venice, Italy in the afternoon. Duke will play its third and final game Monday, Aug. 21 against Celje Basketball Club.
