Duke Concludes Season at Regional Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Duke men’s cross country team participated in its final competition of the 2017 campaign Friday, placing 15th in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships in Charlottesville, Va.

For the second time this season, freshman Alex Miley led Duke’s efforts, placing 61st in a 10-kilometer best time of 30:51.4. Not far behind him was junior Nikhil Pulimood. Pulimood finished in 64th place, clocking a time of 30:52.9.

Sophomore Tom Sullivan improved on his 2016 regional performance as he crossed the course in a personal-best time of 31:17.8 to finish in 85th place. Next up for Duke was sophomore Matt Wisner who clocked a time of 31:28.0 to finish in 92nd place in his regional championships debut. Rounding out the scoring for Duke was junior Stephen Garrett. Garrett had a time of 31:54.7 to come in 112th.

“We return six of the seven guys that ran today will be back next year,” said head coach Norm Ogilvie. “We’re going to get back to work after some down time to heal up and get better.”

Duke finishes the season with a record of 47-28 overall and 9-13 in the ACC.
