DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke wide receiver Johnathan Lloyd has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Rams to join the NFL organization as an undrafted free agent.

Lloyd was a three-year starter who appeared in 49 career games with 37 starts. He registered 124 receptions for 1,272 yards (10.26) and nine touchdowns during his tenure. He tallied two or more catches in 32 career games and 40 or more receiving yards in 15 contests.

In the Duke record book, Lloyd became the 20th Blue Devil to reach the 100-catch plateau and the 37th to amass 1,000 or more receiving yards. He closed his career ranking third in touchdown receptions of 50 or more yards (four), eighth in consecutive games with two or more receptions (18) and 16th in pass receptions.

Lloyd joins fellow wide receivers T.J. Rahming and Chris Taylor as the only Blue Devils to play in and win three bowl games (2015 New Era Pinstripe Bowl, 2017 Quick Lane Bowl and 2018 Walk-On’s Independence Bowl). A three-time Academic All-ACC honoree, Lloyd was a two-time recipient of the program’s Sonny Falcone Iron Duke Award, an honor presented annually to one offensive player, one defensive player and one player in the developmental program for year-round commitment to strength training and conditioning (2015-16).

A product of Graham, N.C., Lloyd was heavily decorated off the field as a senior, earning a place on the 2018 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for excellence in community service. He was also chosen as the Freddie Solomon Community Service Award recipient and as a semifinalist for the second annual Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year.

Lloyd was one of four team-elected captains for the 2018 season, when he started all 13 games for the second consecutive campaign. He caught 51 passes for 604 yards (11.84) and five touchdowns, ranking 11th in the ACC in receptions per game (3.92), 12th in receptions, 15th in receiving yards, tied for 17th in receiving touchdowns, 19th in receiving yards per game (46.46) and 28th in yards per catch (11.84). A deep threat, Lloyd turned in the third and fourth-longest catches of the season by a Blue Devil with a 68-yard grab at Pittsburgh and 66-yard catch at Baylor. He logged 90 or more receiving yards in three weeks, including a career-best 136 yards at Pittsburgh. Lloyd combined with Rahming (eight) and Davis Koppenhaver (seven) to form the first trio in Duke history with five or more receiving touchdowns apiece in a season.

The 2017 season had Lloyd catch 39 passes for 367 yards (9.41) and one touchdown. The 2016 campaign was his breakout year after transitioning fully from cornerback to wide receiver. Lloyd caught 34 passes for 301 yards (8.85) and three scores that year, ranking second on the club in receptions.

A double graduate of Duke, Lloyd finished his undergraduate work in May, 2017, with a degree in African/African American Studies along with a certificate in markets and management. He graduated from Duke again in December, 2018, with a master's degree in liberal studies.
