DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke baseball program continues to bolster its pitching staff as head coach Chris Pollard announces the addition of yet another highly touted right-handed hurler. Cooper Stinson, younger brother of current Blue Devil Graeme Stinson, has signed a National Letter of Intent and is set to arrive in Durham this coming fall.

“Cooper is a lot like Graeme in that he’s a big, strong, physical pitcher,” said Pollard. “Cooper’s frame is extremely projectable and his arm is loose, a true power arm. Because of his frame, he projects as a starting pitcher at the ACC level.”

A 6-6 righty with a fastball up to 95 mph, Stinson rates as the No. 77 overall prospect in the country according to Perfect Game as well as the No. 26 right-handed pitcher. The Perfect Game organization also tabbed Stinson a 2017 Underclass High Honorable Mention selection and listed him as the No. 11 overall prospect and No. 4 RHP in the state of Georgia.

As a junior at Norcross High School outside Atlanta, Stinson posted a 3.61 ERA while striking out 58 batters in 42.2 innings.

When the younger Stinson reunites with his older brother at Duke next fall, the Blue Devils will feature their first set of siblings on the active roster since Jeff and J.D. Alleva in the early 2000s.

GoDuke.com will feature each member of Duke’s 2018 recruiting class every Tuesday over the coming weeks.
