DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program are excited to announce the signing of middle infielder Jake Topolski to a National Letter of Intent. Currently a senior at Lenape High School in Medford, N.J., Topolski looks to strengthen the 2019 Duke roster.
“Jake Topolski is a really versatile player who can play a lot of different positions on the field,” said Pollard. “He can play either side of the bag in the infield or he can bounce out and play the outfield. Jake’s a plus runner and a very, very accomplished athlete.”
A three-sport athlete at Lenape, Topolski pulled in 2017 All-South Jersey first team honors after batting .415 with 34 hits, 24 RBI and three homers as a junior. Twice selected to the Carpenter Cup, an all-start tournament sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies, Topolski has hit over .400 each of his past three high school seasons.
Topolski garnered 2017 Underclass High Honorable Mention distinction this past spring and rates among the top 500 players in the 2018 recruiting class. Perfect Game lists Topolski as the No. 500 overall prospect and No. 202 shortstop in the class as well as the No. 41 overall prospect and No. 4 shortstop in the state of New Jersey.
Most recently, Topolski led the Lenape football team to its first SJ Group 4 Championship, helping the Indians compile an 11-1 season in 2017. The Lenape wide receiver is a first team all-conference selection on the gridiron and has also pulled in second team all-conference accolades as a member of the Indians’ basketball team.
