DURHAM, N.C. – Nine Blue Devils were among the 144 athletes selected to compete in the upcoming Young Women’s National Championship (YWNC), as announced by USA Field Hockey Friday.
The annual tournament provides participants the opportunity for selection to the 2020 U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team and U.S. Women’s National Team, or a trial for the U.S. Women’s National Team. This year’s action is slated for June 14-18 at the home of USA Field Hockey, Spooky Nook Sports, in Lancaster, Pa. The U.S. U-19 Women’s National Team will compete at the event for the first time.
Duke will be represented in full force at the tournament, as rising seniors Haley Schleicher and Jillian Wolgemuth, rising junior Lily Posternak, rising sophomores Leah Crouse and Olivia Sahaydak and incoming freshmen Mary Harkins, Hannah Miller, Kelsey Reznick and Josie Varney were among those selected.
Wolgemuth recently traveled to Germany with the U.S. U-21 squad, as did Crouse, Miller and Varney with the U.S. U-19 team.
