Setting the Scene...
Following three straight home contests, the fourth-ranked Duke women's basketball team (3-0) will embark on its first road trip of the 2012-13 campaign this weekend as the Blue Devils will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on Xavier (3-1) on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2:00 p.m. The contest will be played in the Cintas Center.
Sunday's game will be aired live on the WDNC AM 620 with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) calling the action. It will also be aired live on www.goxavier.com with video.
Following the game on Sunday, Duke will hit the road again as the Blue Devils will play at Michigan in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 28.
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
- Tricia Liston needs only seven more three-pointers to reach 100 for her career.
- The Blue Devils are averaging 26.3 points off the bench this season.
- Freshman Alexis Jones pulled down a career high nine rebounds in the last game against Valparaiso.
- Four of Duke's five starters have hit all 16 of its three-point field goals made this season with Liston leading (8).
- The Blue Devils have won 57 straight home contests against unranked non-conference opponents.
- Duke held Iona to 31 points, which marks the 18th time under Coach P the Blue Devils have held an opponent to under 40 points.
- Duke opened the season with three straight home games for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
- The 84 points in the season opener was the second-most by a Blue Devil team under Coach P in the opening contest of the season (second to 104 against Houston Baptist on Nov. 13, 2009).
- Duke owns a 34-2 record since the 2008-09 campaign against non-conference opponents at home in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils have notched a 23-3 record in the month of November the last four years. Duke has won 26 straight home games in the month of November with the last loss coming to South Carolina on Nov. 25, 2001 (87-81, OT).

The Musketeers enter Sunday's matchup with an overall record of 3-1 after defeating Morehead State, 73-58 on Nov. 21. Xavier opens the season with a six-game homestand concluding on Nov. 30 against Appalachian State.
Shatyra Hawkes (15.8 points, 5.0 rebounds), Amber Gray (9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds) and Jessica Pachko (9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds) have led the way in scoring for Xavier this year.
Head coach Amy Waugh enters her second season as head coach of the Musketeers after spending two years as an assistant coach at Xavier. Last season, Waugh led the Musketeers to an 8-20 overall record, and a 5-9 mark in the Atlantic-10 Conference. Xavier returned to the A-10 Championship last season for the 17th consecutive year.
Duke Versus the Atlantic-10...
Duke holds a record of 35-10 all-time against Atlantic-10 Teams -- Charlotte (7-3), Dayton (0-1), Duquesne (1-0), George Washington (1-1), La Salle (0-1), Rhode Island (1-0), Richmond (6-1), St. Joseph's (4-1), Temple (7-0) and VCU (6-1).
The last loss to an Atlantic-10 team was on Dec. 29, 1996 against George Washington, 48-54. Duke has won 15 straight contests against A-10 opponents.
McCallie owns a 20-5 record all-time against Atlantic-10 members.
In the Last Meeting...
Jasmine Thomas hit a free throw with two and a half seconds remaining and then blocked a potential game-winning shot by Xavier as No. 3 Duke downed No. 4 Xavier, 46-45, on Dec. 21, 2010 in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Thomas led the Blue Devils, who improved to 12-0, with 16 points, while fellow senior Krystal Thomas added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Blue Devils won despite being outshot 38 percent to 27 and being outrebounded 51-37, forcing the Musketeers into 30 turnovers to 12 of their own. Jasmine Thomas made a layup with 2:11 left to cut Xavier's lead to 45-42 and Karima Christmas cut it to a point on a layup with 1:22 left, and Krystal Thomas tied it at 45 with a free throw with 31 seconds remaining.
Jasmine Thomas came up with a loose ball in the backcourt and drew a foul on Tyeasha Moss with 2.5 seconds left, then hit the second of two free throws to give Duke the lead before racing to block Jennings' last-second layup attempt.
Xavier took a nine-point lead early in the second half, on Jennings' layup with 16:17 remaining. Jasmine Thomas answered with a jumper 16 seconds later and Duke came back to tie it at 40 on Krystal Thomas' layup from Shay Selby with 9:08 to go.
Impressive First Three Games...
Over the first three games of the 2012-13 campaign, the Blue Devils have averaged 91.3 points, hit 49.5 percent of their field goals and outrebounded opponents by a 20.7 margin.
Duke has hit 47.1 percent of its three-point field goals, while averaging 22.7 assists, 17.7 steals and 6.7 blocks.
The opponents are averaging only 40.3 points and hitting 27.8 percent of their field goals.
Vernerey Matches Career High...
Senior Allison Vernerey registered 20 points in the first half against Iona and went on to match a career high with 22 points. She hit 11-of-15 field goals, grabbed seven rebounds and dished a career-high five assists.
Her 11 field goals made was a new career high for the native of France. Vernerey collected just her second career game with 20 or more points.
In three contests, Vernerey is hitting 70.8 percent of her field goals.
Liston Averaging a Double-Double...
Through the first three games of the season, junior guard Tricia Liston is averaging a double-double with 16.7 points and 10.0 rebounds. The River Forest, Ill., product is hitting 48.5 percent of her field goals and 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from downtown.
Liston is coming off notching her second career double-double against Valparaiso with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Over the first three games, she has pulled down nine rebounds twice and 12 in the last contest.
She leads Duke is scoring, rebounding, three-point field goals and is second in steals.
From the Charity Stripe...
With her 6-of-6 free throws made against Valparaiso on Friday night, junior Chelsea Gray snapped the Duke school record for consecutive free throws made with 33 dating back to last season.
Gray broke the previous record of 32 held by Nicole Erickson, which was from Jan. 22, 1999 through March 20, 1999.
High Point Totals...
The Duke offense has been stellar to open the season in the first three games averaging 91.3 points, which is the highest under a Coach P team at Duke. The previous high was 83.3 in 2009-10.
It marks the first time since the 2005-06 season the Blue Devils have registered 80 or more points in the opening three contests.

Johnson Notches Career High...
Sophomore Ka'lia Johnson came off the bench against Valparaiso and posted a career-high 11 points on 4-of-6 field goals in 21 minutes. She also collected three steals and two rebounds, while hitting 3-of-4 free throws.
Williams Moving Up the Blocks List...
Elizabeth Williams owns 126 career blocks and is only four away from moving into a tie for eighth on the Blue Devil all-time charts. Sue Harnett currently holds onto eighth on the Duke career list with 130 and Mistie Bass is seventh with 131.
Williams is only a sophomore and holds a career blocked shot average of 3.5 per game.
