DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s basketball and the Blue Devil Network is set to air a live NCAA Tournament selection show special tonight from 6:45-7:45 p.m., on www.GoDuke.com. The show will feature exclusive interviews with players, coaches and insight regarding the upcoming NCAA Tournament, while being hosted by Morgan Patrick and Ryan Craig.
Duke is coming off capturing its eighth ACC Championship on March 10 with a 92-73 victory over 15th-ranked North Carolina. Freshman Alexis Jones became just the third ACC freshman to be selected MVP, after scoring a career-high 24 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists in the title game. Elizabeth Williams, Haley Peters and Tricia Liston also received All-ACC Tournament accolades for their efforts.
The Blue Devils received the automatic bid from the ACC and will be making their 20th overall trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2013, including the 19th straight selection. Duke owns an all-time record of 49-19 in NCAA action. Over the last three consecutive years, the Blue Devils have advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in each of those.
ESPN will host the NCAA Tournament selection show on Monday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a one-hour discussion show at 8:00 p.m., on ESPNU on Monday following the selection show. On Tuesday, March 19 from 1-5 p.m., ESPNU will also host a four-hour special that features interviews and in-depth analysis of the bracket.
Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie, who was named the 2013 ACC Coach of the Year, has guided the Blue Devils to their third 30-win season in her six years at Duke with a 30-2 mark. McCallie led the program to the ACC regular season and tournament title for the third time over the last four years.
Following the selection show on Monday, McCallie will host a special one hour show on Tuesday, March 19 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Joanne P. McCallie Radio Show will take place at NOSH and will once again be hosted by Morgan Patrick. It will air on WDNC AM 620 from 6:00-6:30 p.m., and on www.GoDuke.com from 6-7 p.m.
Duke will host the NCAA Tournament first and second rounds on Sunday, March 24 at 12:00 and 2:30 p.m., and on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. The Blue Devils have won 16 straight NCAA Tournament games in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
