DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman Mads Soegaard of the Duke men’s golf team recently sat down with GoDuke.com and shared highlights throughout his golf career. A native of Denmark, Soegaard has finished in the top-20 in six tournaments this season, including a tie for third at Hootie at Bulls Bay.
GoDuke.com: What kind of clubs do you play?
Mads Soegaard: I play Titleist all the way through; Titleist driver, three wood, hybrid, irons and wedges. I use a Scotty Cameron putter.
GoDuke.com: What kind of pre-round superstitions do you have before tournaments?
MS: Not really. I go through my practice routine, which takes about an hour or so.
GoDuke.com: How many hole-in-ones have you hit?
GoDuke.com: What is your go to shot?
MS: My typical shot would be a ball that is curving from right-to-left. When I get nervous, it tends to be a little bit bigger of a curve, so I try to rotate a little harder to eliminate that.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite club?
MS: I guess when the putter is working that is my favorite club.
GoDuke.com: Do you have a ball mark with any special significance?
MS: I always use a poker chip to mark my ball. There is not really any significance to it. I started it, I went out one day and I had a poker chip in my pocket and used it. Ever since then it has been in my bag.
