DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off claiming its second straight and 18th overall ACC Championship on April 21 in Greensboro, N.C., the third-ranked Duke women’s golf team is preparing for the NCAA Regional Selection show tonight at 9:00 p.m. The show will be aired live on www.NCAA.com.
Duke will receive its 21st consecutive bid to play in NCAA Regional action on Monday and will travel to either Auburn, Oklahoma or Stanford to compete. The regional dates are May 9-11.
The Blue Devils registered a three-day total of 882 at the ACC Championship and won the title by 24-strokes over N.C. State. Four Duke golfers finished in the top six of the individual leaderboard – Laetitia Beck (2nd), Lindy Duncan (T3rd), Alejandra Cangrejo (T3rd) and Celine Boutier (T6th).
Head coach Dan Brooks has guided the Blue Devils to five NCAA Championships (1999, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007) and has taken his squad to the NCAA Regionals every year since 1993. With Brooks’ leading Duke to the ACC title earlier this month, he has claimed 113 wins over his 29 years with the Blue Devils.
The top eight teams and top two individuals from each regional site will advance to the NCAA Championship in Athens, Ga., which will take place from May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
