DURHAM, N.C. -- Statistics for the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) released Thursday by the NCAA indicated that 98 percent of freshmen student-athletes receiving scholarship aid or recruited individuals participating in programs that do not offer athletic aid graduated from Duke within six years.

The GSR is based on student-athletes who entered college as freshmen in 2003-2006 and allows for the removal of those individuals from the cohort who left Duke in good academic standing.  The NCAA GSR average is 82 percent.

A total of 17 Duke teams achieved a 100 percent GSR: baseball, men's basketball, men's fencing, men's golf, men’s soccer, men's swimming and diving, men's tennis, men’s cross country/track and field, women's basketball, women's fencing, field hockey, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, women's cross country/track and field and volleyball.

Duke's remaining programs – football (92), men’s lacrosse (95), wrestling (97), women’s rowing (95) and women’s golf (83) – all achieved a GSR of 83 percent of better.

In addition, the Federal Graduation Rates were released on Thursday. Duke freshmen scholarship athletes that enrolled in 2002-05 posted a four-year class average of 86 percent.  The Federal Graduation Rate does not allow for the removal of those individuals from the cohort who left Duke in good academic standing, and only includes scholarship student-athletes.
