DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke rowing team is ranked No. 20 in the first edition of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/US Rowing Coaches Poll released Monday.
Duke, which also climbed into the CRCA/US Rowing Top 20 in 2013, is one of five ACC teams ranked in the initial poll, joining No. 3 Virginia, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 18 Clemson and No. 19 Syracuse. The Blue Devils have been ranked in the CRCA/US Rowing Top 20 in seven of the program’s 15 seasons since head coach Robyn Horner assumed the post beginning in the 1999-2000 season.
The Blue Devils have competed in two regattas this season, winning three races including a varsity eight showdown against Michigan State and Kansas at the Cardinal Invitational. Duke’s V8 recently took second against a field that included No. 18 Clemson, Iowa, Buffalo, Kansas and Purdue in Clemson, S.C.
Up next for the Blue Devils is a trip to Lowell, Ore., on April 5 for the Oregon State Classic on Dexter Lake.
