CLAREMONT, Calif. – Rising junior Daniel McCall advanced to the 2014 U.S. Open National Playoffs after winning the men’s singles title over the weekend at the United States Tennis Association Southern California sectional qualifying tournament, held at The Claremont Club.

Now in its fifth year, the U.S. Open National Playoffs provide the opportunity for all players 14 years of age and older to earn a berth into the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open National Playoffs include both men’s and women’s singles as well as mixed doubles.

McCall defeated Dustin Goldenberg, 6-4, 6-1, in the Southern California sectional final to earn a trip to New Haven, Conn., in mid-August where he will compete for a spot in the U.S. Open. Additional information about the U.S. Open National Playoffs is available at www.USOpen.org/NationalPlayoffs.

As a sophomore this spring, McCall compiled a 10-10 ledger in singles and went 20-17 in doubles action. The San Francisco, Calif., native posted an 8-4 record at the No. 3 doubles position and was 2-2 against ACC doubles opponents.
