DURHAM, N.C.-  Duke University incoming freshman Kianna Holland has been named one of six finalists for the Parade Magazine National High School Player of the Year.

Other finalists for the award were Saniya Chong (UConn), Diamond DeShields (UNC), Rebekah Dahlman (Vanderbilt) and Toni Jankoska (Michigan State).  Chong was selected the National Player of the Year.  

Holland, who is a product of Seneca, S.C., averaged 35.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.5 assists as a senior at Seneca H.S.  The 5-9 guard totaled six games with 40 or more points and a career-high 50 points against Blacksburg, S.C., on Dec. 21.  Holland hit five or more three-pointers three times and registered 30 or more points in 11 of 16 games.  She added 27 points and 12 rebounds against Walhalla for a double-double early in the season.  Holland was limited to only 16 games as a senior due to an injury.  

Duke incoming recruiting class of Holland along with Kendall Cooper, Oderah Chidom and Rebecca Greenwell has been tabbed the No. 2 overall class in the nation.
