DURHAM, N.C. – Riding a six-match winning streak, the Duke volleyball team climbed three spots to No. 15 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Poll. Monday’s poll marks the first time the Blue Devils have been ranked in the top 15 since Duke held the No. 14 position on Nov. 5, 2007.
Winners of 16 of their past 17 matches, the Blue Devils own a 20-3 overall record and 11-1 mark in the ACC following key conference victories over Syracuse and Boston College this past weekend. Duke is currently in first place in the ACC standings, leading No. 18 Florida State by one match.
The Blue Devils boast one of the top offenses in the country as Duke leads the league and ranks fifth nationally in both kills per set (15.01) and assists per set (13.90). Led by senior Ali McCurdy, the ACC’s all-time digs leader, the Blue Devils are also tops in the ACC in digs per set average (16.05).
Duke hits the road this weekend for a pair of ACC road matches, traveling to Maryland (Nov. 8) and Pittsburgh (Nov. 10).
