Gray, who is out of Manteca, Calif., played in her homecoming contest on Sunday at California and scored a game-high 22 points, had five assists, four rebounds and two steals in the road win. The two-time All-America knocked down seven of 12 shots, including two three-pointers. It was Gray’s first game after suffering a dislocated kneecap on Feb. 17, 2013.
The victory marked Duke’s first win in a season opener on the road against a top-10 team in program history. Gray scored 20 or more points for the seventh time in her career and with her five assists, moved into a tie for eighth on the all-time Duke list along with Georgia Schweitzer (428).
Georgia Tech’s Kaela Davis was named the ACC Rookie of the Week.
The Blue Devils will next host USC Upstate on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m., in the home opener in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
