Charlotte, N.C. -- At the start of the 2012 season, the talk around Duke football centered around the quest to end the program’s postseason drought. Just more than a year and one bowl game later, that same program comes to Charlotte as the ACC’s Coastal Division Champion.
The record-setting 2013 campaign, which includes a school-record ten wins and the program’s first trip to back-to-back bowl games, is the culmination of a years-long process begun by National Coach of the Year David Cutcliffe and his staff after their arrival in December, 2007.
The Blue Devil Network caught up with several of the key members of that building process and those that have witnessed it from afar, including current Florida State Athletics Director and former Duke football administrator Stan Wilcox, Coach Scottie Montgomery and former NFL General Manager and Super Bowl champion Bill Polian.
20th-ranked Duke will play top-ranked Florida State in the Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game Saturday night on ABC at 8pm. With a win, Duke will clinch an automatic berth in the Discover Orange Bowl on January 3, 2014.
