GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference continues its sportsmanship awareness campaign by recognizing Winter Sportsmanship Week from Monday, January 20 through Sunday, January 26. ACC Sportsmanship Weeks are a campaign to emphasize sportsmanship as it relates to ACC teams, the conference and fans by designating one week during the fall, winter and spring sports seasons.

At all ACC home competitions during Winter Sportsmanship Week, every league team will showcase its continued dedication to sportsmanship by participating in a pregame handshake. In addition to the teams’ efforts, the conference and member schools will highlight the initiative to its fans through releases, social media platforms and on official websites.

All winter sports (men’s basketball, women’s basketball, swimming & diving, wrestling and indoor track & field) will be involved. ACC schools are scheduled to play host to a total of 41 events during the 2014 ACC Winter Sportsmanship Awareness Week.

Fans can follow Sportsmanship Week on theACC.com and on the ACC’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) using the tag #ACCSportsmanship.

Established in 2010, ACC Sportsmanship Weeks is a campaign to recognize and promote sportsmanship. During the 2013-14 academic year, three specific weeks were tabbed as ACC Sportsmanship Weeks: October 15-November 3 (Fall), January 20-26 (Winter) and April 7-13 (Spring).
