DURHAM, N.C. - Six Duke University cross country athletes have been selected to the 2011 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Teams, as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford Tuesday.

Senior Suejin Ahn, junior Madeline Morgan and freshman Julianna Miller were named to the women's team, while senior Andrew Brodeur joined junior Domenick DeMatteo and sophomore Brian Atkinson on the men's squad.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his or her academic career.

Brodeur and Morgan earned berths on the conference's academic honor team for the third time in their careers, while Ahn made her first appearance on the all-academic squad after previous achieving the honor in outdoor track and field. Atkinson, DeMatteo and Miller each collected the first All-ACC academic team selections of their careers.

During the 2011 campaign, Morgan led the Duke women to a seventh-place showing at the ACC Championships and received All-ACC honors in sixth place individually. Both Morgan and Ahn were All-Southeast Region selections during the fall, with Morgan qualifying for the 2011 NCAA Championships as an individual. The Birmingham, Ala., native turned in an 89th-place performance among the nation's top cross country runners while making her second consecutive appearance at the national meet.

As a rookie, Miller recorded a 47th-place finish at the ACC Championships and was Duke's third-best performer at the NCAA Southeast Regional in 41st place overall.

Brodeur capped off a standout cross country career at Duke by capturing the first All-ACC honors of his career with an 11th-place showing at this year's conference meet. A product of Brick, N.J., Brodeur guided the Blue Devils to a tied for fourth-place finish at the ACC Championships, and also garnered All-Southeast Region honors for the second time in his career with a top-25 finish at the regional meet.

DeMatteo was the Blue Devils' top finisher at the Panorama Farms Invitational and turned in the squad's second-best performance at the NCAA Southeast Regional in 40th place, while Atkinson notched a personal-best 24:10.5 for 8K to take 23rd at the ACC Championships.
