DURHAM, N.C. - With the 2012 campaign set to kick off on Aug. 31, the women's cross country team announces the addition of five newcomers to the program. The class of 2016 features student-athletes from California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

"Our freshmen class is particularly strong in the middle distances on the track," said women's head coach Kevin Jermyn, who will direct the Blue Devils for the 13th season this fall. "They are currently working on their aerobic capacity to be prepared to race well over 6,000 meters cross country. We are hopeful that they will be able to make an immediate impact on our team and help us compete well at the ACC and NCAA Championships."

Here is a closer look at each of the incoming freshmen:

Olivia Anderson
Greenwood Village, Colo. (Cherry Creek)
Four-year letterwinner in cross country and track & field at Cherry Creek High School ... honorable mention all-state selection in cross country ... guided her squad to a runner-up finish at the Roy Griak Invitational [Minn.] as a junior ... also turned in an individual runner-up finish at the Griak ... in track & field, anchored Cherry Creek's 4x800m relay that captured the state crown and earned all-state distinction her senior year ... also at the state meet, took third in the 800m while helping her team place second overall ... as a sophomore, won state titles in the 300m hurdles, 800m and as a member of the 4x800m relay ... also finished third in the state in the 400m while leading Cherry Creek to a second-place showing as a team ... state champion in the 300m hurdles as a rookie while also taking second in the 800m and third as a member of her squad's 4x800m relay.

Anima Banks
Mamaroneck, N.Y. (Mamaroneck)

Four-year letterwinner for Bob Morrissey at Mamaroneck ... two-time indoor track state champion in the 1,000m ... finished the 2012 indoor season with the second-best time in the country in the 1,000m and the third-best time nationally in the 800m ... also won a state title outdoors in the 800m as a junior ... anchored her squad's 4x800m relay which placed third in the state during her final season ... garnered All-America distinction after taking third in the 800m run at the 2012 New Balance Nationals Indoor ... a three-time all-state selection both indoors and outdoors ... recipient of the Officials' Award from the Armory Track & Field Center ... also named to the Armory All-Star team.

Holly Bischof
Hainesport, N.J. (Bishop Eustace)
Lettered four years at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School ... tabbed the Gatorade/ESPNHS New Jersey Cross Country Runner of the Year as a senior ... also earned New Jersey Runner of the Year distinction her final year ... captured the New Jersey Non-Public A state crown and the NJSIAA Meet of Champions title in cross country, becoming the first runner from her school to do so ... placed 28th at the 2011 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships ... also took fourth at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional ... two-time first team all-state selection in cross country ... in outdoor track & field, named second team all-state in the 3,200m as a junior after taking second in the event at the New Jersey Meet of Champions ... garnered first team New Jersey All-Non-Public honors twice in indoor track & field and in the 3,200m outdoors ... All-American outdoors after finishing fifth at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals 5K in 2011.

Completed prep career at Belchertown High School ... state champion in the mile as a senior ... two-time Western Massachusetts Division I champion in the 800m and 3,200m outdoors ... also captured two Western Massachusetts divisional titles in the mile ... led her cross country squad to a fourth-place finish in the state her senior year ... won the mile at the New Balance Falmouth Road Race as a senior ... also competed at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor her final year, taking fourth in the emerging elite mile event ... member of The Republican's all-scholastic first team all four years in cross country.

Lettered four years in cross country and track & field for Kenrick Sealy at Mountain View High School ... three-time league champion in the 1,600m and two-time league champion in the 800m ... also captured a section title in the 1,600m as a sophomore ... guided Mountain View to a sixth-place performance at the California state meet her sophomore season and a fifth-place finish her junior year ... program record holder in the 800m and 4x400m relay ... league champion in cross country during junior campaign ... also a two-time section champion ... named Distance Runner of the Year by the San Jose Mercury News as a sophomore and junior ... led her squad to four consecutive league and section championships ... garnered all-country and all-section honors while also being tabbed the CCS Runner of the Year as a sophomore and junior ... second team all-state as a sophomore.
