DURHAM, N.C. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its weekly regional team rankings Monday, with the Blue Devil women moving up two spots to No. 3 in the Southeast Region poll.

The Duke women own a season ledger of 5-0, including a 2-0 mark against Atlantic Coast Conference competition. The squad opened the year with a first-place finish at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational and defeated NC Central in the annual dual meet between the two schools.

Following a fifth-place showing at Saturday's Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational in Earlysville, Va., the men's cross country team maintained its No. 5 ranking in the latest regional poll. Led by sophomore Shaun Thompson, who covered the 8K course in a personal best time of 24:39.4, the Blue Devils placed three runners inside the top 30 despite injuries to several key personnel. Duke edged squads from California, Kentucky, Norfolk State, VCU and Howard to improve to 9-4 overall and 1-1 in ACC action.

Both the men's and women's teams will make the short trip to Cary, N.C. on Friday, Sept. 28 to take part in the annual Great American Cross Country Festival, which is slated for a 4:25 p.m. start at the WakeMed Cross Country Course. In addition, the women's squad will also send runners to the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Louisville, Ky.
