DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men’s and women’s cross country teams will be back in action this Saturday, Nov. 6, when they travel to near-by Cary, N.C., for the Pack Invitational. The Pack Invitational is being hosted by N.C. State and will be held at Wake Med Soccer Park.
The men’s 8K race is set for 10 a.m., and the women will toe the line at 10:30 a.m.
The 17th-ranked Duke women will try to improve on their performance from last week’s ACC Championships where they grabbed a third-place finish. The Blue Devils were led by Juliet Bottorff and Madeline Morgan at the ACC’s, when they finished 13th and 14th and took All-ACC honors. The women finished with six runners in the top-30, which was good enough for a one-point advantage for third place over host school Boston College who finished in fourth.
The Blue Devil women moved to 56-5 this season and 14-2 in the ACC.
The 23rd-ranked Duke men, who finished fifth at the ACC’s, will look to bounce back from a disappointing finish last week. The Blue Devils were a perfect 30-0 going into the ACC’s, but came up just one point short of fourth place and nine points from a third place finish. The men placed nine of their 10 runners in the top-50.
Duke senior Bo Waggoner led the men with a fifth-place finish and All-ACC honors for the fourth straight year. Waggoner is the only runner in Duke cross country history to be named All-ACC four years in a row.
