DURHAM, N.C. – For the second straight year the Duke women’s cross country will compete in the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships after they received an at-large bid, as announced by the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee on Sunday.
The Blue Devils are one of 13 teams to earn an at-large bid as a total of 31 teams and 255 individuals will compete in the women’s championship race. Duke is making its 10th appearance in program history and its second straight appearance since they competed in six straight NCAA Championships from 2002-07.
The Duke men sealed their second straight appearance on Saturday when they finished second at the NCAA Southeast Regional and earned an automatic berth into the NCAA’s, the first in school history. The Blue Devils are making their 11th appearance and their third back-to-back appearance in program history and the first since the 1970-71 seasons.
Indiana State University will host the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 22, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind.
The women’s 6K race is scheduled for 12:08 p.m. (EST), followed by the men’s 10K race at 12:48 p.m. (EST). A live webcast of the NCAA Championships will be available from noon to 1:30 p.m. (EST), Monday, Nov. 22, on NCAA.com. -d-u-k-e-
