GUELPH, Ontario – Duke runner Kate Van Buskirk had the best race of her career when she captured third place overall at the AGSI Canadian Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 27. Van Buskirk led Team Ontario to a first-place finish in the senior women’s 7K race while earning personal records at the 5K and 6K splits.

Behind the Brampton, Ontario, native’s third-place time of 24:11.1 in the 7K, Team Ontario posted a first-place team score of 30 points. The squad placed six runners in the top 20 at the event.

The Blue Devil senior was the ACC Indoor Champion in 2007 and was named to the All-ACC Indoor and Outdoor team the same year. She garnered All-East Outdoor Region accolades in 2007 and was All-ACC in cross country the same year. Van Buskirk has also earned All-Southeast Region honors twice, in 2006 and 2007.

During her prep career, Van Buskirk was the Canadian Junior National Champion in 2004 in the 800 meters and in cross country in 2005. She finished fifth in the 800m in the 2005 Pan-American Junior Championships and took 45th in the 2006 World Cross Country Championships.
