DURHAM N.C.- Freshmen teammates Brian Atkinson and Clint McKelvey will depart today for the USATF Cross Country Championships in San Diego California.

This meet will give the young Devils the opportunity to represent the United States at either the North American, Central American & Caribbean Cross Country Championships in Tobago or the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Punta Umbria, Spain. USATF will be sending five junior male athletes to each event based upon times run this weekend.

Both were members of Duke's third consecutive IC4A championship team this past cross country season. Atkinson took sixth at the event while McKelvey grabbed the 10th spot. Each of them received All-East honors for their effort. The freshmen also assisted with Duke's win the Roy Griak Invitational, which lead to the highest national ranking the men's cross country team has ever seen.

The USATF Championships will have competitions starting from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with the Devils competing in the Junior Men's 8k at 12:30 p.m. PST.

The event will be live streamed at: http://www.runnerspace.com/USACrossCountryChampionship
