Freshman Earns Spot on US Junior Team

SAN DIEGO, Calif.- Freshman Clint McKelvey earned a spot on the US junior national team this past weekend.

McKelvey and teammate Brian Atkinson competed at the USATF Junior Cross Country Championships in San Diego, Califorinia this past weekend. The top 10 finishers of the 8km course would be selected to run for the US national team at either the North American, Central American & Caribbean Cross Country Championships in Tobago or the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Punta Umbria, Spain.

McKelvey finished 10th in a field of 84 with a time of 25:28. Atkinson came up just short of qualifying by finishing 15th and only nine seconds behind McKelvey.

McKelvey will run at the North American, Central American and & Caribbean championships in two short weeks, on February 19th,  before readying himself for the remainder of the indoor and outdoor track and field season.
