DURHAM, N.C. - Following a tied for fourth-place showing for the men and a seventh-place finish for the women at last weekend's ACC Championships, the Duke cross country teams return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the 3 Stripe Red-Shirt Invite. The meet will be hosted by NC State at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., with the 5K men's race beginning at 11 a.m. and the 5K women's race scheduled to start at 10:40 a.m.

Brodeur, Morgan Earn All-ACC Honors at 2011 ACC Championships

Senior Andrew Brodeur led the Blue Devil men to a fourth-place finish at the ACC Championships last Saturday in Clemson, S.C. Brodeur captured All-ACC honors for the first time in his career with an 11th-place performance, clocking a personal-best 23:45.3 on the 8K course. Duke also placed three other runners inside the top 30, with each posting personal-best marks. Senior Stephen Clark placed 22nd in 24:08.3, followed by sophomore Brian Atkinson in 23rd (24:10.5) and junior Domenick DeMatteo in 24th (24:11.1).

As a team, Duke scored 116 points to tie for fourth with Virginia Tech. Nineteenth-ranked NC State claimed the conference title, while No. 18 Florida State finished second and No. 30 North Carolina took third.

Following the conference meet, the Blue Devils now own a mark of 37-13-1 on the season and are 8-5-1 in ACC action.

On the women's side, junior Madeline Morgan garnered All-ACC accolades for the second consecutive season with her 11th-place finish. Morgan was Duke's top finisher at 20:42.8 for a new personal best in the 6K. Seniors Esther Vermeer (22nd, 21:03.9) and Suejin Ahn (28th, 21:11.5) also recorded top-30 performances for Duke, as the Blue Devils took seventh overall.

Top-ranked Florida State grabbed the team title after placing six runners in the top 10 overall, while 24. Boston College and No. 17 Virginia took second and third, respectively. The Blue Devils were just two points shy of a sixth-place finish behind Clemson.

The Duke women moved to 73-19 on the season and 5-6 in ACC competition following the conference meet.

Duke Lineups Set for Saturday Races

Junior Ashley Brasovan, sophomore Gabby Levac and freshmen Chloe Maleski and Colleen Schmidt will return to action at Saturday's 3 Stripe Red-Shirt Invitational in Cary after representing Duke at the ACC Championships last weekend. They will be joined on the 5K course by seniors Leslie Morrison and Cydney Ross and junior Adrianne Soo, as well as sophomores Ashley Berry and Rebecca Craigie.

The Duke men will race seniors Brendon Pierson and Will Leister, junior Christian Britto and freshmen Nate McClafferty, Brian Schoepfer and Shaun Thompson in the 5K men's race.

Both the men's and women's teams took first at last year's running of the Wolfpack Invitational.

Up Next for the Blue Devils

Following Saturday's races in Cary, the Duke men and women will travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional for a chance to advance to the 2011 NCAA Championships on Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
