DURHAM, N.C. - Duke freshman Colleen Schmidt was named the ACC Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week Monday following a first-place finish at the Three Stripe Red Shirt Invitational on Saturday in Cary, N.C.

Schmidt, a product of Point Lookout, N.Y., led the Blue Devils to the team title Saturday on the WakeMed Cross Country Course. The Duke rookie recorded a first-place finish for the first time in her career, clocking 17:57 on the 5K course. In addition, the first-place showing also secured Schmidt a spot on the Blue Devils' NCAA Southeast Regional roster next weekend in Louisville, Ky.
